Mystery Questions [Sep. 8th, 2008|04:30 pm]

ETA: I forgot to put in the preamble! D'oh!

Below are my selections for a set of "Mystery Questions" that [info]altivo was kind enough to share with me. I found it amusing enough to think up some answers and post them here. The intent, I believe, is simply to find out who wants to know enough to ask to see the questions :)

Oh, and I put them under a cut since on second glance it's a bit long. 1. [info]wynkat1313

Squee!

The overall timbre of your posts led me to choose that one.

Definitely a compliment! (And I'd love a chance to meet you some time since we live in the same area!)

Edoras. [info]snowwy and I would love to see you again, Chip; and any chance to foregather with [info]songcoyote is a good chance, in my book.

Unless I'm way over boundries here by horning in like this...

Re: The place:

Now I am VASTLY intrigued. It's a very strangely small world out there, and I can't help but wonder if we've actually met already :)

P-Con? BayCon? FurCon? It seems likely that we've at least crossed paths....

Anyway, Edoras would be a great place to meet, not least because I don't see its denizens often enough. Though I do admit a private lunch has its own charm simply because hey, then we can concentrate on new company and good food ;)

Either way (or both ways; I'm flexible!) I'm glad of all this!

::grins::

Darrin and I live in Oakland - maybe, 15 - 20 minutes away from [info]songcoyote as the cars drive. (we're on 19th Ave. off Foothill, if that helps at all.)

Assuming that [info]songcoyote agrees, Darrin and I would be very happy to have the two of you meet @ Edoras; then either stay and hang out, or the two of you then head off and do whatever else might come to mind, as the spirit moves you.

Assuming that I'm not stepping any toes.

Re: The place:

As intimated in my response above I'd be glad to meet with all of you. Not sure when, mind you, as it's hard enough scheduling stuff with my sweeties, let alone the rest of the world, but I'd love to get a chance to spend some time with you.

Why don't we move this to an e-mail discussion and then I'll be more apt to look at my calendar at home where my primary (non-work) schedule is kept? Then we can all share in the goodness!

ROFL. I'm reputed to be a very boring date, you know. ;p

(Link)

I suspect that is quite alterable depending on circumstances, chemistry, and the drive, inclinations, and actions of the one you're dating.

Besides, one person's boring date is another's ideal evening. From our previous discussions I suspect we'd find a very happy medium were we so lucky as to have the opportunity. I'd certainly do my best to see to it ;)

I don't snark. It really was a compliment or meant as such. If you have ulterior motives, you haven't made me trust you less or feel that you aren't sincere. That takes a lot of talent, and I don't think I'm easy to fool.
[User Picture]From: [info]songcoyote

I figured as much; emoticons can sometimes befuddle as much as they enhance since they're open to some interpretation (I tend to take the :p or ;p ones as mildly sarcastic).

And if I have an ulterior motive it's so ulterior that I don't know what it is! My motives are generally pretty transparent, though I can be tricksy at times. Gotta keep the ol' paw in, after all!

...and all that aside, I really would relish the chance to spend some time with you, whether in ribaldry or quiet conversation (or even better, both!)

And I'd like to hear the coyote sing. :)

FYI, I'm as likely to use the ;p to express cute amusement as actual sarcasm.

I agree... I like to use the ;p a lot... but mainly because I love to stick out my tongue... it is so fun and playful!!! So what can we use to denote sarcasm?? There is no key that can be *rolling of the eyes*, unless you have one eye and use @|
Hmmmm... must ponder sarcasm emoticon...

Somewhere I have that little dictionary of emoticons that O'Reilly published years ago. I'll have to dig it up and see what it says.

I actually like rather larger symbols that take two or three lines. They worked well back when everyone was on a text only screen with monospaced type, but now that almost everyone sees their e-mail and messages in a proportional font, they collapse into a pile of alphabetic rubble.

Such a naughty tongue you have, too...

No sarcasm at all, there! :9

Works for me; I'll keep that in mind when reading your responses. Of course, I'm quite aware that my interpretation is, well, mine, and I have my own insecurities to spice that up just fine, thanks ;)

And I'll be glad to sing for you, though I might be nervous doing so. I'm told I have a tolerably enjoyable voice. There are a couple of songs I've written that I think (hope) you'd like, plus I know some others by friends that are just plain fun.

Sounds like we really do need to meet!

Who is the next author to take YA literature by storm, score a lucrative TV development deal, and (Bonus!) make Stephenie Meyer cry?

Re: #20

Absolutely right! Your insight is astounding, except for one fact that you missed:

"...make Stephenie Meyer cry, not least because she'll never be what you are for His Luciousness, the Zombie King Keanu!"
