I don't have any fiction within reach, so you get an excerpt from the Code of Federal Regulations! Isn't that exciting? The closest volume was:

21 CFR Parts 1 to 99, Revised as of April 1, 2008 - Food and Drugs

(k) Mode of action is the means by which a product achieves an intended therapeutic effect or action. For purposes of this definition, "therapeutic" action or effect includes any effect or actio nof the combination product intended to diagnose, cure, mitigate, treat, or prevent disease, or affect the structure or any function of the body. When making assignments of combination products under this part, the agency will consider three types of mode of action: The actions provided by a biological product, a device, and a drug. Because combination products are comprised of more than one type of regulated article (biological product, device, or drug) and each constituent part contributes a biological product, device, or drug mode of action, combination products will typically have more than one identifiable mode of action.

Wasn't that exciting, lads and lasses?

Hmm... I must admit that while I don't actually find it exciting per se, I do find it interesting, but then I've been doing drug, biologic, and device QA work for [ahem] years, and I know exactly what the above is talking about (and not just because I understand the words used ;) Having a vested interest in the meaning of such things does tend to increase their ability to hold one's attention, after all.

Anyway, thanks for looking!

Ah well - we all have different definitions of interesting, don't we? Some would find my CFR posting fascinating :P

We're doing well now that we're back from Disneyland. It was an abzolutely fantabulous trip but, well... tired now.
